Users of Mobile Mail.Ru will be able to forward large files

Mobile application users Mail.Ru mails will be able to attach large files to emails. The option appeared simultaneously in email clients for Android and iOS.

High-resolution cameras and the widespread use of mobile gadgets have resulted in users constantly creating large volumes of files. First of all – photos and videos.

Previously, sending large files was hampered by a limit on the maximum size of the attachment – 25 MB. This restriction was necessary in order for the message to reach any mail server in the world, since administrators of many servers set limits on the size of the received message.

Now, the user can attach to the letter a file or several files of almost any size. The size of one file is up to 2 GB, the number is unlimited. Mobile Mail “on the fly” recognizes those whose size exceeds 25 MB, and automatically downloads them to the cloud storage. As a result, the letter will not be attached to the files themselves, but links to download them. This innovation makes the Mail application even more functional and convenient, including compared to the regular mail clients of smartphones on iOS and Android.

If the recipient also uses the Mail application, when receiving the message, the files for it will look not like links, but as normal attachments – they can be viewed directly in the application interface.

According to the specialists of Mail.Ru Mail about 50% of all letters in Mobile Mail.Ru are sent with attachments. In every fifth letter – two or more attached files. Approximately 80% of cases are photographs, 19% – documents, 1% falls on video clips and archives. It is planned that due to the new function, the number of video materials sent in attachments will increase significantly, since it is no longer necessary to preload the videos to external hosting or to the cloud. For users of the Web version of the Mail, the ability to send “heavy” files was previously available and sending large attachments turned out to be one of the users most favorite functions.
