How to get your headshot on Google searches with Hickory

It’s highly recommended to implement Google Authorship’s headshot feature which allows your image to appear next to your site in search results. There are a number of reasons why it’s important to do so, though the most immediate benefit to you is that searchers are more likely to select a link that has an eye-catching image next to it.

Hickory has been pre-fitted with the necessary coding to make this setup process as easy as pie for you. To set up your Google Authorship headshot, just follow these easy steps:

  1. Create a Google+ Profile with your desired profile image
  2. In your WordPress Dashboard > User > Edit > Enter your Google ID
  3. Return to your Google+ profile > Settings > Contribute To > Enter your website URL

Please note: Google has stated that they cannot guarantee that headshots will always appear next to the link in Google Web Search or Google News results. Users have reported it taking weeks, even months, for their Authorship headshot to appear in searches. Patience is a virtue, friend!
