Plugin WP Widget Disable
To hide unnecessary widgets in the WordPress admin area, you can use the convenient and free plug-in WP Widget Disable :
Download and install this plugin. After activation, you will have a new menu Appearance → Disable Widgets :
Customizing the plugin is easy. At the top there are 2 main tabs:
- Sidebar Widgets (widgets for the sidebar from the menu Appearance → Widgets they were discussed)
- Dashboard Widgets (system widgets that display on Console → Home )
Just check all the “extra” widgets, and they disappear from the menu Appearance → Widgets:
Before / After
As for the system widgets on the Console home page, they can also be removed with this plugin.
Of course, you can just open the “ Screen Settings ” in the upper right corner and turn off all unnecessary there and without the plugin.
But this will not stop your other admin users from opening again the Screen Settings and returning all the widgets back.
So, with the help of WP Widget Disable you can remove all these widgets completely so that they will not be displayed even in the screen settings.
Just go to the plugin settings, switch to the Dashboard Widgets tab and disable all the “extra” widgets.
After that, your main console page will be without widgets, and even in the Settings screen will be empty:
That’s it! We showed you a very simple way how to get rid of unnecessary widgets in the WordPress admin panel for the Settings page for the Sidebar and for the Console home page.
